Our Engagement Story

How I proposed to Chinelle.

So Chinelle loves the navy and seeing the guys in their uniform, and that made for the best plan for me for her hehe!  Firstly, I got the ring in Jan while we were doing some ‘early looking’, but things weren’t in place yet so I waited...

Since then I’ve been playing along that we don’t have a ring and have no idea when & how we’ll get one. So she’s not expecting this for at least a month (heehee).



This past Saturday 15th May, I took her to Simon’s Town to “see someone from church for ministry stuffs”. On the way there I realise the ring is in the dashboard compartment & if she opens it it’s over for me.

So I stop the car and ask her to fetch me tissue in the boot. She offers me hers (she has a bad flu) and I say “no, I don’t want to finish your fancy ones please get me the one in the boot” (desperate situations call for desperate measures). As she went I then removed the ring from there phew!



Got to a beach restaurant close to Boulder’s beach where “Mrs Watson” works (heehee), and I gave a random excuse that we can’t go in but must wait for her on the beach rocks.

And she says: “It would be funny if we’re waiting on the rocks and she’s on the other side”, so I’m like “hmmm let me go check!” (heehee)



So I say: “Wait right here”, “But I wanna get out of the wind, I got flu” she says. Shucks I need a reason… & I’m like “no but when I come back with Mrs Watson I need you here so we can see u” (ya random) I didn’t wait for an answer.

I went around the restaurant where the Crew was waiting with my gear! Quickly change, set cameras & sneak out of the rocks to an unsuspecting Chinelle:)


   

I hooked up a General’s military march towards her with my hat in one hand and the ring on top of it while navigating past the rising pool of tears (not mine). That’s when it became real to me too!  Did my stuff, she said yes & finished off with diner @ Bertha’s restaurant. I can honestly only boast in God that everything worked smoothly and perfectly in sync! The road to here hasn’t been easy, still isn’t but we’ve just been going with the peace as they happen.

Saturday also wouldn’t have happened without the Squirrols Lutho (video), Kwenza (car) and Zwi (pictures, art direction & location advisor).

And now for our wedding later this year, we're putting our faith in God…
