It’s not often that you can say “Oh I was hanging out with Christine Meintjes & Lizelle Lotter yesterday.” It’s like if you’re an aspiring film maker and your friend says: “Ag I was at Steven Spielberg’s house the other day and had coffee with him…”
To see someone (close up) doing what you love doing what you love can just inspire you. It was the same kind of feeling hanging out with pro photographers like Lizelle & Christine and hearing their story & a bit about how they work. It makes this passion not as daunting but also makes you realise how much being a pro is haaaaard work.
My heroes on that night: my friends Eugene & his wife Candice who invited me to this event – you guys are legends.
I’m humbled to see how humble and normal these guys are. I guess as ‘the fans’ we can often make people to be larger than life but still when someone is that good and is so down to earth & willing to share their knowledge, that is something. Talk about using you passion & gift as a ministry…
Well that was the case for me last week Friday (no, not with Steve…not again haha). Christine, one of the top pro photographers in Cape Town, and her team have a photographers community driven through www.kiki.co.za and once in a while they arrange meet ups where they’ll do a workshop or have a guest speaker. Last week’s guest was Andy Schar who can be described (in one word) as: an artist (OK, two words). |
Andy is a songwriter, singer and now produces videos for corporates and the like. He came to chat about what he’s learned as a video producer using the latest hype of DSLR video recording cameras to which I’m a devout sucker. |

I think you doing anything else with your life is a crime to you!
