Short but memorable mountain pass.
We all drive past Old Houwhoek Pass when we go out of Cape Town via N2, right past Houw Hoek Farm Stall and runs parrallel with the tarred Houwhoek Pass (N2). So when heard there's an old gravel version that runs next to an old train track, doing the pass became a matter of when.
We did it uphill first in January which is the harder version but also most fun. By fun I mean near falls and getting stuck.
We then did it downhill in Feb which was more relaxed and slow now that we knew what to expect.
A few reviews list it as a 4x4 pass so technically we shouldn't be riding this pass especially not having off road tyres.
On the way home we detoured to have our home-packed lunch on Strand beach.
